Who manages volunteers?
Some volunteers may be placed in roles / services that are directly managed / run by the Voluntary Services department. But in many cases, for instance where Trust services are delivered from a number of sites, or for those Trusts with varied community provision (e.g. mental health or primary care), there will be joint management between the VSM and the manager of the local ward or department or group or residential unit. Typically, day to day management is devolved to local managers, with the VSM retaining overall responsibility for volunteers - and ready and willing to step in and assist in the event of any query or concern.
