Karen began working in the NHS in 2005 and has had experience of working in HR and Training before taking up a post in Voluntary Services in 2011. She  joined the NEC in 2013 as Training Advisor before taking up her role as eNews Editor last summer, a role that she very much enjoys.  In her ‘Day Job’ at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,  following a recent merger of their Charity and Voluntary Services, she is now the Community Engagement and Voluntary Services Manager, responsible for a team of 5 and over 340 volunteers She also works with external organisations such as Bliss, The RVS and a local Carers Network.  In her ‘spare time’, she undertook an ILM Level 5 qualification in the Leadership and Management of Volunteers, she does her own volunteering with a local Community CIC which arranges a three day summer music festival, and enjoys being creative with a pottery wheel !
